Christ's consecration, our example - Pt 2Consecration · part 2 of 2Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMLuke 2:49 · Sun Sep 19, 2010
Christ our example in consecration, Pt 2. "And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" Luke 2:49. (Preached in Penticton FPC. First preached in Kilskeery FPC on 17th June 1979) Peter tells us that the Lord Jesus is set before us in the Holy Scriptures as an example for us to follow. It has to be emphasised that His example is to be followed as a "way of life" and not a "way to life". Those virtues which are set forth in the lives of the saints of old as recorded in Holy Scripture are marked by failings and blemishes but no so Christ. In our first study we considered how that from an early age Christ it was clear Christ was devoted to His Father's affairs. In this the second part of this message we will look at how Christ considered His Father's affairs in a business-like fashion and then note that when He did so consecrate Himself to His Father's affairs, He was misunderstood.
