Spoonful of the old medicine, Pt 2 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain," 1 Corinthians 15:1-2. (Preached in Lewes FPC, Lord's Day morning, September 13th, 2015) The resurrection of the body is something natural man rejects. The work of the minister is to constantly preach the truth of the Gospel in the teeth of the opposition of rejection, falsehoods and deception. That Paul was doing this through this epistle. Here he reiterates the Gospel. Its principal article is the death of Christ. Today, we will consider how having said that the Gospel SAVES, Paul goes on the enlarge on HOW it saves and WHO it saves. THE GOSPEL SAVES THOSE WHO RECEIVE IT 'Received' = "Take to oneself". They did that which Israel did not do. John 1:11. Note that verse 12 shows that to receive Christ is the same as to believe on His name. What is it we have to receive and believe? Here the Christian's creed. 1. Christ died for our sins. 2. He was buried. The body of Christ was interred before witnesses. 3. He rose again. The body disappeared from the tomb though it was watched by His enemies. Matthew 27:62-66. Christianity is founded upon an empty tomb. These doctrines are Bible based. They are "according to the Scriptures".
