Self-deliverance or self-destruction . . which?Deliverance or DestructionRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMHosea 13:9 · Sun Aug 5, 2007
The word "destroyed" is found in Genesis 6:11-13 & 13:10 translated as "corrupted". This indicates to us the depths of the harm wrought by Israel upon itself. However, the destruction was not intentional. That which the people sought was the very opposite to that which came upon them. It is an outcome often experienced by the nations of the world. I believe that it may rightly be paralleled with what is happening in Northern Ireland. Many Protestants are beginning to realise that what they are beginning to see as an outcome of the political arrangements foisted upon us all earlier this year is not what they had been led to expect. I do not think that this growing sense of concern and anxiety is something experienced by Sinn Fein/IRA and its supporters. The glee of Martin McGuinness is indicative of the general feeling of those in his camp. However, there is a growing section of the Protestant community, particularly believers, that are becoming alarmed at the direction things are taking. To them the words of this text is addressed.
