The death-bed of the righteousA funeral sermonRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday AfternoonGenesis 49:33 · Sun Aug 20, 2006
It was a very evil man who said, "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!" Numbers 23:10. No matter what may be said about the Christian during their lifetime, the worldly man who gives any thought to these matters, recognises that there is something to be envied in the death of the child of God. In the early hours of Friday morning past, Miss Margaret Wray passed into the presence of the Lord. She made ready for that event some 12 years ago on 2nd January 1994 following a service in this meeting house. She had listened to the gospel message and had gone home deeply troubled by what she heard. Soon after arriving home she asked to be brought to the home of her niece, Mrs. Hazel Morrision that she might speak to her husband, Ivan, who is an elder here. That evening she called upon the Lord and passed from death unto life. It was a joyful passing that sweetens the present sorrowful circumstances and makes today, for all its grief, a time of rejoicing for her immediate family. Today, I would turn your attention to the passing of a great old saint of God some 3600 years ago. Its has lessons for us today since the path to glory for God's redeemed is still the same.
