Proof of the gospel's power "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God," 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. (Preached in Newtownabbey FPC by Rev Ivan Foster on Lord's Day morning, July 7th, 2013.) Man loves to boast of his successes. However, the long-term results often do not match the euphoria with which the initial announcement was made. Indeed, long-term disappointment is often the lasting legacy of supposed successful developments. It is not so with that which God has proffered to the world for its many ills and woes - the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ has stood the test of time and will stand the test of eternity. There never has been one, who having embraced Christ in truth, ever complained of shortcomings in the grace they had received. Converts are the proof of the gospel's power and effectiveness. Our text provides us with an example of this wonderful proof
