"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God," Matthew 22:29. The enemy of the gospel is not in the least concerned with truth when challenging the gospel message. That is seen in the question posed by these Sadducees. The case they suppose is ludicrously improbable. But that meant nothing to those opposed to the truth of God. All these men were concerned with was confounding Christ and putting Him to silence. The Saviour makes clear that the errors of the Sadducees sprang from their ignorance of the Holy Scriptures and of the power of God.
