Beginnings of Revival - Part 1 "Then began men to call upon the name of the LORD," Genesis 4:26. (Preached in Newtownabbey FP Church, July 25th at the morning service. First preached in Kilskeery FPC, 26th October 1980.) The earth's population is beginning to increase. Two distinct family lines are developing - that of Cain and that of Seth. Cain's line were predominantly wicked while Seth's were predominantly righteous. In verses 16 - 24, we have the characteristics of the Cainite line given in detail. The final characteristic is that of murder. Truly they were of their "father the devil . . . he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it," John 8:44. On the other hand, the character of the line of Seth is given briefly and succinctly - "Then began men to call upon the name of the LORD." They were a people who lived to commune with God. That is the character of the righteous.
