Oily words of peace conceal the words of warThe Voice of Protest · part 11 of 12Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMPsalm 55:21 · Sun Nov 28, 1993

(Sermons preached in former years in Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church against the ecumenical apostasy.)

Preaching the message of salvation through faith alone, in Christ alone, by grace alone must ever be coupled and joined with earnest contenting for the faith against the lies and errors of the devil and his agents.

"The oily words of peace which conceal the sword of war!" "The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn sword," Psalm 55:21. A great contradiction may be discovered between what the mouth says and what the heart feels. "Never judge a book by its cover". That is a truth that is undergirded by the Bible's revelation of man's heart. Presently, a peace plan, drawn up by IRA man Gerry Adams and his friend John Hume, is the centre of much political discussion and agitation here in Ulster. Despite the fact that few really know what the plan entails in any detail and that it was jointly drawn up by a leader of a terrorist movement which has murdered over 1000 innocent people in the last 25 years, it is being urged upon us by Rome and her allies, the ecumenists. Many have heeded their call and flocked to the streets to reinforce the call for peace. Were Hitler to have sent a message of thanks to a 'peace' rally in London, would those who were participating not have asked themselves just what purpose was their rally serving! When dealing with Rome and her offspring and her friends we must lean not to our own understanding. Rather, we must look to that book where Rome's pedigree is revealed -- the Bible.
