The New Jerusalem continued Its eternal purpose. "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God," Revelation 21:3. God united with His redeemed in a most glorious fellowship. All pining after God will cease! "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?" Ps 42:1-22 We will never thirst again! " . . . prepared as a bride adorned for her husband," Revelation 21:2. What care and love lies behind its preparation! It is a city of joy. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away," Revelation 21:4. "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore," Ps 16:11.
