THE GREAT PRICE AND THE GRAND PURPOSE OF REDEMPTION "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father," Galatians 1:4. (Preached at evening service in Lewes (Jireh Chapel) Free Presbyterian Church, Lord's Day, 2nd June, 2013) There is only one gospel. It is the gospel that the apostles learned from Christ and preached unto the world and which some recorded under the Holy Ghost's inspiration in the New Testament. It is the gospel that is set forth in verse 4. From that gospel the devil would turn us. He managed to some degree to do just that in Galatia. Paul is combating that departure. He does so by defining the gospel and declaring that there is no gospel outside that which he had preached and that the proclamation of a false gospel was deserving of hell. We shall consider what the verse 4 tells us.
