The Bible and the Protestant Reformation "I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD," 2 Chronicles 34:15. A message preached by Rev Ivan Foster at a meeting organised by the Essex Protestant Council in a public hall in Great Baddow, Essex, on Monday 20th June 2011. Let me define what the great protestant Reformation of the 16th century was. The Reformation was nothing less than a great revival of true religion resulting from a glorious out-pouring of God's Holy Spirit upon the preaching of His Word in a number of European nations in and around the same period of time. It was a time akin to the apostolic age when, instead of apostles we had reformers raised up to lead the work of God. In our Bible reading, we have a reformation set forth. It is, in all essential details, a parallel to the Protestant Reformation since all movements of the unchanging and unchangeable Spirit of God are essentially the same in character. It was a reformation which sprang from the rediscovery of the Word of God.
