Two truths are important to bear in mind whenever we consider the gospel of God's grace to fallen man. 1. The misery and ruin that has been universal in this world and that since the earliest times, is the result of man's own actions. 2. The mercy and the blessing that believers enjoy is of God alone. Men reverse this order and blame God for all their unhappiness and claim the credit for any good thing that happens unto them. In both assertions they seek to destroy the mercy and the grace of God. Our text helps us grasp the truth of this matter.
