Since the beginning of the new school year in September 2015, Rev Foster has been speaking at two morning assembly meetings each week. His theme for 2015-16 is DV, "Pictures of Christ in the Bible." Tenth Picture - Joshua Joshua 3:14-17 We will continue with our study with a few more thoughts regarding the crossing of the Jordan river. The power that parted the Red Sea is at work once more. I think it correct to observe that though there is a repeat of the same display of God's power, it was on a smaller scale! The Exodus symbolised our conversion. Deliverance from bondage, coming under the direct guidance of the Lord and heading for the Promised land. The power of the miracle of our initial conversion is greater than that which we will experience at death. This must comfort us and make us to realise that death is a lesser event than was our conversion. At death we are instantly translated to heaven. It would not have taken long to cross the riverbed - a matter of minutes. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord," 2 Corinthians 5:8. Death is but a walk through a valley of shadow into the bright and glorious sunshine of God's wonderful presence! "Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me," 2 Peter 1:14. It is as the "putting off" of a garment or the taking down a tent. Not a long process!
