Since the beginning of the new school year in September 2015, Rev Foster has been speaking at two morning assembly meetings each week. His theme for 2015-16 is DV, "Pictures of Christ in the Bible." Ninth Picture - The serpent in the wilderness Numbers 21:5-8. The cure was found in the likeness of the curse. It was a serpent that was put on the pole. Christ was made sin. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him," 2 Cors 5:21. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree," Gal 3:13. "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit," 1 Pet 3:18. "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed," 1 Pet 2:24. It was lifted up in the heart of the camp of Israel. This what preaching the gospel entails. It is a holding up for all to see the answer of God to man's sin. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature," Mark 16:15. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me," John 12:32. There is attracting, saving power in the gospel. To avail of God's cure, the Israelite had only to look. The poison of the serpent made it impossible for him to do anything more!
