Bullying, Blackmail & Blarney!!Blair and Ahern's politicsRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PM1 Kings 22:5 · Sun Apr 9, 2006
Nothing was made more clear to Israel than the fact that God's Word should govern every aspect of their life, Deut 6:4-9. The Lord Jesus commented on every aspect of life in Israel both ecclesiastical and political, Matthew 22:21. Likewise Paul, Roman 13:1-10. I repeat these things for they need to be said again for some believe that a minister steps outside his realm of duty when he applies God's Word to the political affairs of Ulster. I have both the authority of God's Word and the example of God's prophets, especially our Great Prophet, the Lord Jesus, to support me when I seek to examine our national affairs in the light of Holy Scripture. Ministers who do not make such applications fail to preach the whole counsel of God! If God has no word for us at this time then woe is us! More especially, woe is our children! But God has a word. War is the most solemn of all political actions. It not merely effects the material well-being of the nation but the lives and souls of its chiefest men. The very existence of the nation is jeopardised in wartime. Such a time of decision is a time to seek God's counsel.
