Studies in Haggai #6Back to work · part 6 of 13Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMHaggai 1:7-15 · Sun Mar 19, 2006
THE RESPONSE OF THE PEOPLE TO GOD'S WORD. 1. Obedience. It started with the leaders and continued with the common people, verse 12. What a blessed unity is here. How good to see all of God's people engaged in His work! 2. Fear or reverence. They gave God is rightful regard and respect. Their actions were taken in the light of God's person and power and not, as before, what was suitable to them and their earthly desires and ambitions. Pro 9:10; Psalm 34:11. 3. The whole process was the consequence of sovereign grace. Verse 14. The Lord "aroused", "awakened" the spirit of the people. THE OBEDIENCE OF THE PEOPLE BROUGHT AN IMMEDIATE BLESSING. "Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD," v 13. This is the fulness of blessing for it delivers us from fear of man and fills us with the delights of heaven. Matt 28:20; Rom 8:31.
