We continue where we left off in our last study. 3. Like the Saviour he came forth from a desert to begin his ministry. "And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead," v1. This a wild and mountainous area of wilderness. The Saviour came forth from the wilderness to begin His ministry. Mark 1:12-14. 4. Like the Saviour his was a ministry of confrontation. Elijah's day was one in which the land had greatly departed from God. His first words are confrontational and challenging. The throne of the king was challenged. They were blessed with a good prophet while plagued with a bad king. This has ever been the case with God's servants, Jeremiah 1:10, 18-19. Sin was great in the Saviour's day too.
