Message of the empty tombResurrection of ChristRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMMatthew 28:6 · Sun Apr 4, 2010
The Message of the empty tomb. "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay," Matthew 28:6. (Preached in Tavistock FPC) Across the world today, God's true people are remembering that fact concerning the Lord Jesus, which above all other unique aspects of His glorious person, makes the gospel of Christ and the worship of Christ altogether different from the other religions professed among men upon the earth - His resurrection from the grave! Paul's experience on Mars Hill sets forth this uniqueness. "And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter," Acts 17:32. The resurrection of Christ is not something for us to debate about or question. It is the central doctrine of the whole gospel and must be believed if we are to be saved. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved," Romans 10:9. I wish to look at the historic fact of Christ's rising from the dead and learn three important lessons.
