Pictures of Christ - 15 Elijah the prophet - I kings 17 The last time we spoke to you we considered how Christ, like Elijah, confronted the king, the religious leaders and the people. Now we come to a new consideration: 5. Elijah, like Christ, was withdrawn and hidden in a time of danger. "And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan," 1 Kings 17:2-3. Elijah was told to conceal himself. 1. In times of danger, God often hides His prophets. David, "David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him," 1 Samuel 22:1. Jeremiah, "But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them," Jeremiah 36:26. Likewise, the Saviour was concealed in times of danger.
