The Empty CrossJesus really did dieRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMRevelation 13:8 · Sun Apr 16, 2006
"The Empty Cross" -- The Lord Jesus Christ truly did die. " . . . the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world," Revelation 13:8. This is a day of questioning, doubting and downright denial of the central truths of the gospel. On this day, when throughout the world, many are remembering the death and resurrection of our blessed Saviour, we will consider some of the evidence that declares these two great events as genuine. Let us remember that if there was no death of the Redeemer, there was no atonement for sin. ". . . for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul," Leviticus 17:11. " . . . without shedding of blood is no remission," Hebrews 9:22. If there was no resurrection of the Redeemer from the dead there was no redemption. "And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable," 1 Cor 15:17-19.
