Wonderful Invitations of Christ, 3 Invitation to rest. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light," Matthew 11:28-30. As we have listened once again to these familiar and beautiful words it is as heaven's door opened and the Lord Jesus appeared and beckoned us to enter! In verse 27, the Saviour declares His authority and power to save sinners. "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." It is after He declares His power to save that He issues this invitation. Please note to whom this invitation is addressed. It is to those who labour and are heavy ladened. That small band of people who are burdened by a sense of sin and weary from carrying that burden.
