The Millennial Reign of Christ The reign of Christ on the earth for a thousand years is a much disputed truth. It was not always so. Justyn Martyr, early in the 2nd century says, "I and as many as are orthodox Christians in all respects do acknowledge that there shall be a resurrection of the body and 1000 years reign in Jerusalem". However men may seek to deny this glorious truth, it is repeatedly and plainly set forth in Holy Scripture as a major aspect of God's purpose for His redeemed people. By denying it, men wittingly or unwittingly, are guilty of taking words out of the mouth of God and replacing them with their own words! That is a serious matter indeed. "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years," Revelation 20:4. These are the words of God and they plainly indicate the 1000 year reign of Christ in company with His saints AFTER the days of the Antichrist.
