Christ's Invitations - 6Invitation to solitudeRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMMark 6:31 · Sun Mar 28, 2010
The Invitations of Christ, 6 AN INVITATION TO SOLITUDE, "And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat," Mark 6:31. (Preached in Tavistock FPC) It is surprising how often the Great King and Only Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, asks His subjects to do things rather than command them, as He might well. Our Master moves and motivates us by love rather than fear. The Saviour's invitations to His people provide us with opportunities to enter more fully into that blessed salvation He purchased for us with His precious blood. None ever experienced disappointment upon responding to an invitation from Christ. The invitation we will consider tonight is one to SOLITUDE. I wish you to notice from the context that it was a timely invitation. We will consider, secondly the terms of the invitation and , finally, the teaching we may deduce from such an invitation.
