Future Feasts in Jerusalem, Zechariah 14:16-19, Part 2. The Feast of Tabenacles is a most suitable feast for the millennial reign of christ 1. It was a vivid reminder of the deliverance and pilgrimage through the wilderness. Leviticus 23:41-43. 2. Will not every redeemed soul have much cause to celebrate that glorious deliverance experienced in the Millennial reign of Christ? A greater than Pharaoh had been overcome. A greater affliction than that experienced by the Jew in Egypt had been ended. We must never forget the mercy of God Who has delivered us from bondage. 3. The sacrifices to be offered were very significant. There were burnt offerings which diminished each day of the Feast. There was also a sin offering which remained the same (Numbers 29:12-40). The sin offering of course is Christ the Lamb dying for us. It never diminishes in value. The burnt offering, which was "a sweet savour unto the LORD," Numbers 29:13, did diminish in the number of animals sacrificed, see verses 13, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 36. I think that the diminishing sacrifices involved in the burnt offering reminds us that as time passes we have less to offer the Lord. Our time, our strength, our talents are declining all the time. Lord, in the fulness of my might I would for Thee be strong; While runneth o'er each dear delight, To Thee should soar my song. O not for Thee my weak desires, My poorer, baser part! O not for Thee my fading fires, The ashes of my heart!
