II. THE DEVIL IS A WILY ENEMY
The word wiles is a carries the meaning of the care and precision with which one composes a discourse. The devil’s subtlety and planning are most carefully planned. He is a most crafty enemy. He was too crafty for man in his perfection, how much more so now. He has two grand designs in all he does regarding the believer.
1. He wishes to entice us into sin.
He tempts men to sin. He does not tempt all the same but according to there disposition. * He knows when best to tempt, Matt 4:2-3. He knows how best to tempt. He exploits the brashness of Peter, the weariness of Elijah. He will present his temptation subtly, II cor 4:3-4.
