Coming devolution that will bring true peaceMillennial reign of ChristRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMDaniel 7:13-14 · Sun Mar 18, 2007
The word "devolve" means to "transfer power or authority to another." We have heard much about such a transfer of authority of late. While the thought of having a devolved assembly of local representatives should evoke excitement in the hearts of those who care about the wellbeing of their native land, many in Northern Ireland view the coming devolution of power to an executive in Stormont with great sorrow and foreboding. The reason is that this devolution will give power to one of the most undemocratic institutions ever established in these islands -- a coalition involving as equal partner a political organisation which has gained its position by murder, terror and bloodshed. That it should be partnered by a party which campaigned against such a political monstrosity for over 30 years until suddenly, last October, it blemished its name and record by committing a political somersault, makes the whole matter more distressful. These events but serve to turn our thoughts to that coming day when men's corrupt hands will be taken from the helm of state and the nail-pierced hands of the Saviour will assume control of the kingdoms of this world.
