Burden of the Word of Lord, #3Studies in Malachi · part 4 of 25Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMMalachi 1:1 · Sun Mar 16, 2008
What a difference the word "burden" suggests between the message of the man of God and that of those men-pleasers mentioned by Paul in 2 Tim 4:3. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears." Such are the same as the prophets whose ministry was desired by the people in the days of Isaiah. "That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits," Isaiah 30:9-10. This was not so with Malachi and his compatriots. They were men conscious of the weighty matters they were called upon to deal with. This is the third part of this message in which the preacher deals with the importance of applying the truth of God to the congregation.
