"The New Testament Christian" Studies in 1 Thessalonians 1 Why study such an elementary topic? Surely, it may be said, that it is well known what Christianity is all about! After 2000 years of the doctrines of the Bible being taught in this area of the world, you would think it so. But such an idea is far from the truth. The knowledge of what is a New testament Christian is not merely absent from the mind of the average unconverted man, but many who profess faith in Christ are also sadly lacking in a proper understanding of Biblical Christianity. The Apostle Paul in his life was a 'pattern' for believers to follow. That includes ministers, 1 Timothy 1:16. The word 'pattern' means - "an outline, sketch, brief and summary exposition." We will consider: 1. The power that rested on Paul's preaching. Apostolic preachers were men of power. "For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance," verse 5. Things happened under Paul's preaching. 2. This power was linked to Paul's CHARACTER and CONDUCT, chap 2:1-8. 3. I would like then to deal with the means by which we may be filled with the same power as Paul. Indeed, if the people of God do not discover again the joy and power of the Holy Ghost, our cause will die!!
