II. THE RIGHT OUTCOME TO REBUKES IS A GREAT SOURCE OF JOY

What Paul heard from Titus made him rejoice. He was comforted by the news from Corinth, verse 6.

1. Plain preaching is required in order to promote repentance. It might appear to damage, (to cause a loss) verse 9 but it is not so. No man can suffer loss by being told how his sins anger God. Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins, Isaiah 58:1. Many prefer dumb dogs — Isa 56:10. The Psalmist teaches us what a preacher is, Ps 40:9. It is a reference to Christ. Acts 7:51-52, 20:26-27.
