The Attack upon Bible Christianity by members of the Kilmore Synod of the Church of Ireland (Anglican)

(Preached in Kilskeery FPC, Lord's Day evening, December 10th, 1989 by the then minister, Rev Ivan Foster)

An article in the "Impartial Reporter" of November 22nd, 1989, reported on criticism of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Ba'hai faith at a meeting of the Kilmore Synod.

Archbishop Derek Johnston spoke of the dangers posed by these groups.

In what appeared to be a report of the same debate, criticism switched from the above mentioned groups to the "running of summer camps for children".

The organisers of such activities were described as "narrow evangelicals" by Bishop Gilbert Wilson. The bishop went on to expound some very strange notions indeed.

An analysis of his criticism and the doctrines he set forth causes me to liken Bishop Wilson unto Elymas the Sorcerer!

This is the first of five messages in response to what Bishop Wilson said in the Synod and in the exchange of letters between him and Rev Foster in the pages of the "Impartial Reporter".
