Practice what we preach, Pt 2Studies in Second Corinthians · part 6 of 68Rev. Ivan Foster · Sun Nov 10, 19962 Corinthians 1:15-24 · Sunday - AM

II. THE GRACIOUS AND UNCHANGEABLE PROMISES OF GOD ARE FOUND IN CHRIST ALONE

1. What exceeding great and precious promises God has given His people.

A. Temporary wellbeing .

B. Spiritual  advancement.

C. Eternal glory.

2. Those promises are found in Christ alone. As shelter was found in the ark alone, under the blood alone, even so may the blessed promises of God’s mercy be experienced only by those in Christ.

3. The promises are immutable. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, verse 20. They shall all be fulfilled to the fullest measure. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord, Luke 1:45.

III. THE BLESSED SAFETY OF THE CHILD OF GOD

1. We are established. Two metaphors - Col 2:7, rooted, built up. One reaching down the other reaching up. We are established to the end, I Cor 1:8, (Confirm=establish).

2. We are anointed and sealed. We are anointed with the Holy Spirit as God’s and sealed or marked and secured as God’s.

3. We possess God’s pledge of our inheritance. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory, Ephesians 1:14. We have the key to an eternal inheritance in glory. I Pet 1:1-5.
