"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace," Isaiah 9:6 We all know that this verse refers to our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is here revealed to us in His two-fold nature -- His humanity and His deity. He is the "child" born as well as the "son" given. Further, He is revealed to us in His exalted role. He is the upholder of all government in His kingdom. Finally, His glorious character is revealed to us under five titles. "Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Tonight I wish to think of our Saviour in His role as Governor of His kingdom. We will consider: CHRIST IS THE SOLE KING OF THIS DOMINION. CHRIST'S KINGDOM HAS MANY ENEMIES. THE TRIUMPH OF CHRIST WILL USHER IN EVERLASTING PEACE. His policies work. All that are contrary to His Word do not.
