IV. OBEDIENCE TO THESE PROMISES WILL PROMOTE SANCTIFICATION

God’s promises are cleansing agents. If we obey them they will purify us from that which is filthy and perfect holiness within us.

1. Note the nature of sanctification. It is a work of renovation of the whole man - 'flesh', 'spirit'. Putting off and a putting on Eph 4:23-24.
2. Note the extent of sanctification. 'All" - all sin to be purged.
3. God's promises centre in this work.

        Motive -The goal is set before us. Here is what we may enjoy of God.

        Encouragement - God desires this purity and delights in it.

        Power - When promises come to us in the power of the Spirit they elevate, John 4:14. 1 Thess 1:5. We should read them, rest in them, meditate upon them.
