Since the beginning of the new school year in September 2015, Rev Foster has been asked to speak at two morning assembly meetings each week. His theme for 2015-16 is DV, "Pictures of Christ in the Bible." Fifth Picture of Christ Genesis 22:1-14 We see the love of God depicted in Abraham's willingness to give Isaac. What a wonderful thing to reflect something of the character of God in our lives! "And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me," Genesis 22:10-12. The word "fearest" includes the idea of "reverence and love". Abraham, like God, acted out of love on Mount Moriah. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," Romans 5:8. God set forth His love for His elect by giving His Son to die for sinners. No greater display of God's love can be found. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him," 2 Corinthians 5:21. "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins," 1 John 4:10. "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Romans 8:32. (We apologise of the sound quality on this recording)
