Rebellion against Christ, Pt 6Studies in Psalm 2 · part 6 of 12Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMPsalm 2:4-6 · Sun Jan 23, 2005

This is the final study in this section of the psalm. God's response to man's rebellion is seen in the fact that He "sits", is not in the least disturbed. He will "speak" in His wrath. Finally, and we will consider this today, He will succeed in His purpose. In spite of all the resistance of men, God has established His Son as King of Zion. It was the triumph of God's Son that the nations wished to stop. 1. Christ, God's King, is established. Set -- instituted. Matthew 16:18. 2. Christ is established in lowliness. The hill of Zion is not the greatest hill in the world. So God's cause is not considered a great cause. It is associated with those who are nothing. I Cor 1:27-29. Lowly, yes but it cannot be overthrown. Day of triumph draws on, Zeph 3:14-20, Rev 11:15-18. 3. Christ is established in holiness. Christ's cause is a holy cause. It is the HOLY HILL that God's Word leads us. "O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles," Ps 43:3. See Psalm 15. When we gather together to Him remember -- "And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground," Exodus 3:5. See Exodus 15:11-13. Let us heed the call to holiness -- Exodus 22:31, Lev 20:26, I Pet 1:16.
