III. THE CHORUS THAT THIS CHANGE PROMPTS
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ,Vs. 55-57.
1. Death and the grave derided.
Only the child of God can mock at death and the grave and never more so than on this day.
2. Both are seen to have been destroyed by Christ.
We have the victory through Him.
3. The praise that is due.
It should be uttered now in anticipation of that day.
IV. THE COMFORTING CONCLUSIONS WE MAY DRAW
1. Steadfastness demanded.
The word means be seated. Let the world jump up and down in confusion and fear. Col 1:23.
2. Industriousness demanded.
The word abounding refers to an over abundance, Matt 15:37. Do more than your measure.
3. Hopefulness demanded.
We know that it is not a useless exercise to labour for the Lord. Rewards are certain.
