III. THE COMMUNION GOD WOULD HAVE WITH HIS PEOPLE DEMANDS SEPARATION

  1. The church is a temple. Verse 16,1 Cor 3:16, 6:19; Eph 2:20-22; Rev 1:13. Num 1:49-51 - no portion for Levi
  2. For God to walk amongst us we must maintain cleanness. For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee, Deut 23:14. John 14:21-23.
  3. The enjoyment of our heavenly privileges depends upon our separation from the world. Notice the word touch and the word thing. They serve to highlight the extent of separation.

We rob ourselves of God’s favour (receive) and Fatherly care. Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear, Isaiah 59:1-2. This is a matter of vital importance, especially for the people of God today. It holds the secret of the restoration of blessing to the people of God.

God will withdraw from His people - Jer 1:1-11; Song Sol 5:6; Neh 9:16-17, 26-27; Isa 63:10; Eph 4:30.
