Herod's profeesed interest in the new-born Saviour masked a murderous and hatefilled heart. That false interest in Christ is replicated on a grand scale at this season. Many give a "Christian gloss" to their Christmas activities and yet there is nothing of any real saving interest in Him or any desire to submit to the rule of the King.
