Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Pt 2KICS Studies - The things said about the Saviour · part 7 of 13Rev. Ivan Foster · YouthMatthew 13:54 · Thu Nov 25, 2021

“And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this [man] this wisdom, and [these] mighty works?”  Matthew 13:54

We are considering how that:

THE MINISTRY OF THE LORD JESUS WAS UNDOUBTEDLY SUPERNATURAL

We return to our consideration under this heading.

1. This was far above anything they had ever heard before.“And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth,” Luke 4:22.

The preaching of Christ is the fountain of life, joy, peace and blessing. His words were utterly satisfying! “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life,” John 4:14.

The preaching of Christ’s word can never be valued too highly!

2. Christ is the source of all wisdom.“Whence hath this [man] this wisdom.” The supernatural intelligence of Christ’s words was immediately obvious, even to his rejectors!

3. Christ is the ‘Word of God’.John 1:14. How foolish is that person, that people, that nation which divests itself of the Bible!

4. Even a child may benefit from this blessed book.“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus,” 2 Tim 3:15. Psalm 71:17; Proverbs 22:6; Eccles 12:1.
