What a change takes place in Jonah’s life!

1. JONAH IS NOT RUNNING AWAY BUT SEEKING THE LORD.

Jonah is praying, verse 1. That marks the change in his life. God mightily answers prayer. See verse 1 and compare it wit verse 10.

2. THE WAS A SECRET WORK BEING DONE HIS HEART.

1 Peter 3:3-4 - “ . . . the hidden man of the heart”. 

a. The religion of Christ is largely a ‘hidden’ religion.

It is wrought in the heart! Religion of the world is all outward show!!! “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward,” Matt 6:5.

b. Of course that which is wrought in the heart soon shows itself.

Nicodemus, John 3:1-21, 7:50, 19:38-42.

c. It is what is wrought in our hearts that will decide whether is heaven or hell for us.

“Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God,” Matthew 5:8. Matt 23:25-28; Psalm 51:10.
