“Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them,” verse 28.

As we move on to verse 28, there begins a series of references to a series of incidents which are very illustrative of the experiences of the Christian on the pilgrimage to heaven. Having been told that Moses ‘forsook Egypt’ we are told how that came about and what followed for him and the people he led.

1. Boys and girls, deliverance begins with the shedding of the blood the Lamb. 

The first Passover was a most wonderful picture of God’s plan of salvation for His people. The Passover lamb and the shedding of its blood was central to deliverance from Egypt. The lamb was special. “Your lamb shall be without blemish,” Exodus 12:5. So it was with the Saviour, Hebs 9:14. Is The Lord Jesus ‘your’ Lamb today?

2. The blood warded off the death that struck all the Egyptian firstborn. 

Ex 12:29-30. This is a picture of what the precious blood of Christ saves us from. 1 Peter 1:18-19.

3. The Passover lamb was slain just before the setting of the sun. 

Exodus 12:6. If the sun had set and the day had ended before the lamb was sacrificed and partaken of and the blood applied to the door posts and lintel, deliverance would not have been experienced and the opportunity of deliverance would have been gone forever. I believe that the sprinkling of the blood was the very first thing done then the lamb was feasted upon. Exodus 12:7-8.

4. Every home not under the blood was ‘touched’ by God’s judgment. 

It meant death!

5. Faith was the means of keeping the Passover. 

That is, by believing what God said, they obeyed Him and did what He required.  Have you obeyed the gospel?? If you have not and the sun of opportunity sets in your life it will be too late for you and heaven you will never see!
