The 12th picture of Christ - Boaz He was a kindly redeemer. "Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn." "And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: and let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not," 2:9, 15-16. 1. This kindness is a reflection of the Saviour's care for us - even when we did not know Him. Three points are here to be considered. Here is the first one. 1. PROTECTION. The servants of Boaz picture for us the angels of God. As Boaz directed his servants to watch over Ruth, so the Lord Jesus has commended the angels to look out for believers. "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" Hebrews 1:14. Invisibly, wonderfully, constantly their ministrations are carried out. "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried," Luke 16:22. Angels ministered unto the believing beggar but there were no such attention given to the unbelieving rich man. What a wonderful reception is planned for the people of God in heaven. It is then, and only then that we will understand the wonderful care that has been taken of us by God's servants the angels.
