A BRAND PLUCKED FROM THE FIRE Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? Zechariah 3:2. (Preached in Tavistock FPC) The ministry of the gospel has only one objective as far as elect sinners are concerned and that is to rescue them from everlasting damnation. Paul's ministry was outlined for him by the Saviour on the day he was converted. "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me," Acts 26:18. This wonderful change that is wrought within the sinner at conversion is referred to in our text by a very vivid analogy - 'a brand plucked from the fire.' Without reference to the context I wish to preach upon these words.
