I recently read in the press that disobedience amongst under-five-year old children is causing trouble in school classrooms. The report read: "Children aged five and younger are regularly being suspended from schools in Northern Ireland, it has emerged. Between 2002 and 2007, a total of 131 suspensions were given to children in this age group. Most were suspended from schools for physically attacking teachers and classroom assistants. While most of the suspensions were for physical and verbal attacks on staff, some related to bullying and attacks on other pupils as well as being disruptive in class." (BBC, 25th Nov '08) Combating this spirit of rebellion in children is something Christians should be daily in engaged in through prayer and seeking God's will on the matter from His Word. It is of course made more difficult for Christians to rightly instruct and discipline their children when governments constantly seek to destroy the rights and authority of parents to administer discipline in an effective fashion as ordained by God and are also constantly seeking to introduce children to wicked instruction, notions and improper knowledge through the state school classroom. Indeed, government would seek to enforce such instruction even upon children attending Christian schools. This end-time uprising of disobedience amongst the young is featured in prophecy as our text shows. That fact alone is instructive. Disobedience to parents is right up there with all the gross iniquities and acts of lawlessness which will mark the last days.
