Children & discipline pt 1Unsearchable riches of Christ in Ephesians · part 79 of 112Rev. Ivan Foster · Sun Nov 30, 2003Ephesians 5:21-33,6:1-9 · Sunday - AM

We are looking at 6:1-3 where we have God's Word for children. God's Word is like a family table spread for a meal. There is food for the for all from the oldest to the youngest. The key word from the Lord for boys and girls is obey. It is a plain word which is easily understood by the youngest. Obedience to parents is an Old and New Testament command, Exodus 20:12. This was a law the Lord Jesus kept as an example for all, Luke 2:51, John 19:25-26. He condemned those who broke this law, Matt 15:3-4. The breaking of this law is very serious. God counts it amongst the most serious of all sins, I sam 2:24-25, Rom 1:29-30, Mark 13:12, 2 Tim 3:1-2. Rebellious children were not tolerated in Old Testament times, Deut 21:18-21.
