The Ultimate Revival #13Studies in Isaiah 51:9-11 · part 13 of 16Rev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - AMIsaiah 51:9-11 · Sun Nov 26, 2006
We have been engaged in a study of the background of this prayer. It is a prayer that Israel will one day utter when annihilation stares her in the face as the forces of Antichrist muster for one final attack upon Jerusalem. We have considered how it was that the people found themselves in such a position of desperate need and the recognition granted to them of the only way out. That way was of course by prayer. Today we consider: THIS DELIVERANCE WILL BE THE OUTCOME OF THE LORD GOING TO WAR ON BEHALF OF ISRAEL 1. God's people will become mere spectators. At the Exodus, Moses had said: "The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace," Exodus 14:14. "Ye shall contribute nothing to the victory, neither by your words nor by your deeds." This Hebrew word signifies a cessation from speech and from action. 2. It is the case in every instance of true revival. There is an overthrowing by a divine power, of those obstacles and hindrances which had heretofore proved insurmountable. Such was the impact of the 1859 revival in this land. 3. It is certainly the case when Christ returns. He will come to make war, Rev 19:11 with those who would make war against Him, 17:14, 19:19. The outcome is sure. "The Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings," Rev 17:14.
