SAVIOUR'S SOLACE FOR A SMALL FLOCK "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom," Luke 12:32. (Tavistock FPC Prayer meeting, 22nd November, 2016) The Saviour is often depicted as a Shepherd. What is most marvellous to consider is that He chooses to shepherd such a small flock. To have a small flock is something men mocked. "And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle," 1 Sam 17:28. A large flock is a sign of earthly grandeur. Job 1:1-3. Yet our Saviour's flock is small.
