"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues," Rev 18:4. It is God's purpose from all eternity to "purify unto himself a peculiar people," Titus 2:14. The process of purifying is something Christ prays for to His Father, John 17:17. You will notice the agent that is used in their sanctification, "thy word". The Word of God, as it is applied to our hearts by the Holy Spirit, is the means employed by God to separate His people more and more unto Himself.The people of God today are mixed amongst false professors. But in preparation for the day of the Lord, the Great Shepherd will more and more separate His sheep from the fold of professing Christianity and bring them apart unto Himself. John 10:3 illustrates this truth. Presently, the wheat and the tares are growing together no matter how we may seek to keep the tares out but the day of separation is drawing close. Matt 13: 30; Numbers 16:26-27. In our text, there is the call of God just before the return of Christ. It is directed toward His people still in the lawless system of Antichrist. It is separation like that of Lot and it has to happen before judgment falls.
