Why does everyone need salvation? Ephesians 2:1-3. (Preached in Lewes FPC. First preached in a gospel mission at Lakemount, near Trillick in Co. Tyrone, 9 December 1979) Let any man read the Bible with honesty and he will very quickly come to the conclusion that the central teaching of the sacred volume is that all men are in need of salvation. Irrespective of social status or level of intelligence, Irrespective of conduct or character all men need salvation says the Bible. The church-goer looks out on the irreligious multitudes and asks: "Do I need salvation as much as they do?" The upright man looks upon the masses of deceiving and devious and asks: "Do I need salvation as much as they do?" The charitable man looks upon the greedy and the grasping crowds and asks: "Do I need salvation as much as they do?" The answer to these questions is a resounding "YES" and our text shows us why.
