Satan's last flingThe battle for a soulRev. Ivan Foster · Sunday - PMLuke 9:42 · Sun Oct 31, 2010
Satan's last fling "And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father," Luke 9:42. Preached in John Knox Memorial FPC. First preached in Kilskeery FPC on May 20th, 1984. The man or the women, the boy or the girl who has not received the Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour is undoubtedly under the possession of the devil! That may astonish some and offend many but it nevertheless is true. Here is what Paul said to the Ephesians regarding their former state before conversion. "Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience," Ephesians 2:2. Furthermore, he said this when instructing Timothy. "And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will," 2 Timothy 2:26. Here is scriptural proof of the domination by the devil of those who are unsaved and resist the gospel. In the passage before us there is plain teaching for parents. The unsaved are beyond the reach of human help. Even these best of men could not aid the boy possessed by the devil. The Lord Jesus alone can help our children. Consider in this passage: The time the devil attacks. The character of the devil's attack. And finally: The devil cannot destroy or finally hinder the soul that Jesus has called to Himself.
